While their traditional Gayo Arabica is loved by both connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike, the heart and soul of their co-op lies in their famed Kopi Luwak. Among the rarest and most expensive coffee in the world, Kopi Luwak coffee comes from beans that have been consumed and excreted by the Asian Palm Civet, a ferret-like animal found in the forests of Sumatra. During the Dutch occupation of Indonesia in the early 1700s, local farmers were forbidden from harvesting coffee cherries for their own consumption so they began picking, cleaning, and roasting the digested beans from civet droppings. Soon the Dutch caught on and began cherishing the civet coffee for its smooth, chocolaty profile.

Today it remains a delicacy amongst coffee enthusiasts who worship its rarity, history, and distinct, bitterless finish.

The flavour profile of this coffee is simple and classic. The civet cat's digestive tract removes nearly all traces of acidity. This Kopi Luwak will be medium roasted to bring out its sweetness with no hint of carbon flavour. The defining characteristic of this Luwak is unbelievable smoothness riding on a body of velvet elegance.
